The Acknowledgments section of the book is something I typically skim over. The names listed have a meaning to the author, and the person/entity they are thanking. In putting together Arlinda's biography, I decided to study the Acknowledgements section in other books to find out what goes into it.

Thankfully, I have kept a spreadsheet of all of the people whom I have conversed with over the past 31 years in making this book. It makes it a little easier to assemble my list of thanks, and in what capacity they helped. I would hate to leave anyone out of the list.

Sometimes an author takes the reader on a little journey about the concept of the book, or the moment it started to get traction. This blog serves that purpose. I can just send them over here.

The Acknowledgements section has a hierarchy of who is thanked when. In Arlinda's biography, I thank the people who offered their anecdotes of Arlinda first, the caregivers, professionals, and institutions that helped her on her medical journey, followed by the publication sequence of beta readers, editors, and professionals.

This section shows that the publication of a book is truly a team effort. It involves so many lives to support and shape the manuscript into a final published book. Giving thanks is one way to imbue positive energy into the work.
